It is a pleasure to introduce you to Burneston Church of England Aided School. The school was opened in 1974 to replace the historic schools in the villages of Burneston, Kirklington and Wath.

It is situated in very attractive and spacious grounds, in the centre of the village.

The school draws most of its pupils from a number of small villages and surrounding farms.

Burneston School is a warm, welcoming school, concerned with giving insight into the Christian faith and creating a happy, caring environment in which children feel valued and are offered an excellent education.

The staff encourage each child to reach their full potential and have high expectations of achievement and behaviour. The standards of attainment by pupils are well above the national average in all core areas of the curriculum.

The staff support a wide range of extra-curricular activities throughout the year and these have included the Young World music festival, cycling proficiency, Maths flair club, football, rugby, dance, drama and ICT clubs.

There is a strong partnership between pupils, parents, staff and governors and many parents play an active role in the life of the school. The school also has strong links with the community and visits the local village churches as often as possible to celebrate the main festivals.

We hope you find the informationon our website useful and warmly invite you to visit our school.
