FOBS - Friends of Burneston

What is FOBS?

FOBS stands for Friends of Burneston School, We are a group of parents who actively fundraise for the school.  However we are open to anyone who would like to join and support our activities and would welcome grandparents, local villagers or friends to join our team.

What does FOBS do?

FOBS raises over a thousand pounds each year to support the school, pay for children’s equipment and towards activities such as school trips, days outs and events. Only this last year FOBS purchased iPads for each classroom!

Why is there a FOBS?

If we did not have FOBS we would not be able to get those extra things that the children need to enhance their educational experience.  We would also not see a reduction in the cost of school trips if they were not supported by FOBS.

When does it happen?

As part of the fundraising we have a busy calendar of events – some are for families, some are just for the children. Our past events range from an Easter bunny drive to Christmas Fair, regular film club, quizzes and non-uniform days!  All events are not only fund-raisers but also great to bring people together.  To see what events we have coming up, please see the diary of events in the parents section.

Who does what?

How can you help?

We hope that “friends” can attend as many meetings as possible and help at some of the events. We understand that many parents work or are busy with families, so we try and share out the workload. You don’t even have to be a parent to join our fundraising team – grandparent, local villager; the more the merrier!

We try to have at least 2 meetings a term so we can plan and organise our fundraising events.  It is also a great opportunity to meet others get to know one another and have a good time!

Should you wish to join us we would love to see you at our next meeting.  To find out when this is, ask as school reception or grab one of the FOBS at school pick up.

You can help us decide the next year’s events and WHAT the money we raise gets spent on!

Even if you can’t make our meetings but would like to help we are also looking for people who are willing to put their names down so we can contact you for help on the events we have throughout the year.  If you are able to man a stall for a couple of hours, bake some cakes, pour some drinks or generally help out then, take photos, shop for food for events or generally do some fetching and carrying  we would love to hear from you.

If you are interested in joining or meetings or putting your name down to help, pop into school for a form, complete your details and one of FOBS will be in touch.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Many thanks too to all those who have helped and contributed in the past....this is really appreciated by the school and all the children who attend.
