External & Independent Inspections

At Burneston Primary School we embrace the concept of external, independent inspection by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) and SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican & Methodist Schools). Their findings and advice contribute to the many factors which help to drive our school forward to achieve better standards and provision for all of our stakeholders.

We are very pleased that Ofsted and SIAMS recognise the strong positive relationships and how much the children enjoy their learning in school.

In June 2015 Ofsted carried out an inspection of the school.  Ofsted has recognised Burneston C of E school as “Good with Outstanding in behaviour and safety”. It is one that we are very proud of, particularly as it recognises the many improvements we have made as a school and the contribution by everyone in achieving this. We are now officially a ‘Good School’, and many examples of excellent and outstanding practice were observed during the inspection. We are particularly proud of our ‘Outstanding’ grading for ‘The behaviour and safety of pupils’. The inspector was very impressed with the exceptional manners and politeness of our pupils and the respect they show towards everyone.

Our latest SIAMS inspection took place on the 22nd May 2014.  We were very pleased with the outcomes and suggest that you read this report along with Ofsted/HMI reports.

The distinctiveness and effectiveness of Burneston Primary as a Church of England school are good

•The strong and effective leadership of the Head teacher who, with the governors, promotes a vision for the school based on distinctively Christian values.

•The strong relationships, underpinned by Christian values, which exist within the school between the staff and the children. Children feel happy and secure and behave well.

•The focus on achievement which is strongly linked with the spiritual, moral social and cultural development of the children.
